Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 20, 2026
KidVid (kidvid.app) is a video app designed for children ages 2–12.
We take your child's privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it,
and how you can contact us. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1. What We Collect
Information Provided by Parents
When a parent sets up the app, we collect:
- Child's first name — used to label their profile within the app.
- Child's age — used to show age-appropriate content.
- Age group selection — Curious Minds (4–8) or Future Builders (9–12).
- Avatar selection — a chosen emoji avatar for their profile.
- Daily time limit preference — set by the parent to limit screen time.
Information Collected Automatically in the App
When a child uses the app, we collect:
- Device ID — A random, anonymous identifier (UUID) stored in the device keychain. This is not Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) or any hardware identifier.
- Watch history — Which videos were watched, for how long, and whether they were completed. Used for the parent dashboard and to personalise video recommendations.
- Likes — Which videos the child liked. Used to improve recommendations.
- Follows — Which creators the child followed. Used to personalise their feed.
- Crash reports — If the app crashes, basic technical information is sent to help us fix bugs (see Third-Party Services below).
We do not collect from children:
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Photos, videos, or audio from the device
- Location data
- Contacts or phone numbers
- Advertising identifiers
2. How We Use It
We use the information listed above for two purposes:
- Personalizing the video feed — Watch history, likes, and follows help us show videos your child is more likely to enjoy.
- Improving the app — Crash reports help us find and fix bugs so the app works reliably.
We do not use any data for advertising, behavioral tracking, or profiling. KidVid has no ads.
3. Third-Party Services
The only third-party service that processes children's data is Supabase,
a cloud database where watch history, likes, and follows are stored. Supabase acts as
our data processor and does not use this data for its own purposes.
We do not sell or share data with any other third parties.
Website Analytics (Parent-Facing Website Only)
Our marketing website (kidvid.app) is designed for parents and guardians — it is not intended for or accessible to children. On this parent-facing website, we use PostHog (usage analytics), Microsoft Clarity (session recordings), and Meta Pixel (advertising measurement). We also collect marketing attribution data (UTM parameters such as source, medium, campaign, content, and term) when parents visit through marketing links. These tools are used only on the parent-facing marketing website and are never included in the KidVid iOS app. The KidVid iOS app contains zero third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
KidVid is designed for children ages 2–12 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- A parent or guardian must set up the app and create child profiles. Parental consent is verified through subscription purchase (credit card transaction).
- We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the service (see Section 1).
- We do not serve ads or engage in behavioral advertising.
- The randomly generated device ID cannot be used to identify a child.
- Parents can review their child's data via the parent dashboard, delete all data at any time in Settings, or contact us at support@kidvid.app.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Retention Policy
- Child profiles (name, age, avatar, time limit) — retained while the profile exists. Deleted immediately when a parent removes it.
- Watch history — retained for up to 12 months to personalise recommendations, then automatically deleted.
- Likes and follows — retained while the child's profile exists. Deleted when a parent deletes data.
- Device identifier — a random UUID stored on the device only. Removed when the app is uninstalled.
Parental Deletion Rights
Parents can delete all of their child's data at any time:
- In the app: Go to Settings → Privacy → "Delete All My Child's Data"
- By email: Contact support@kidvid.app and we will process your request within 48 hours.
When data is deleted, it is permanently removed from our servers. Uninstalling the app removes the device ID from the device keychain.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the
effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
